SHIPWRECKS OF THE SUNSHINE STATE!
The remains of an old screw steamer, approximately 170' long, lie in 60' of water off St. Petersburg. The wreck is extremely broken down, with the hull plates flattened outwards along each side of the wreck. The stern rises up 15' with the upper decks thrown off to starboard. On my first dive here I uncovered a porthole amongst this wreckage. Upon close examination, it was observed that the open swing plate was fractured from the bulkhead that crashed down and came to rest on top of it. The engine and boilers are absent, most likely salvaged due to the shallow depth. The wreck is well known and fished heavily.
