Though cited as the Eidsvold in hang logs, it is thought
that this wreck is the remains of a 19th century steamer, due to
the engine and boilers which dominate the site. The wreck, lying
in 135', is largely buried with only the edges of the hull
visible for about 50' forward of the boilers. One can follow the
propeller shaft until it dives into the sand aft of the engine. A
commercial spearfishermen related that the bow section which is
large and exposed, used to have a line running to it from the
boilers, but I was unable to locate this (bow) section. Several
large lobsters were recovered from the boilers on one dive, as
well as a piece of china with a blue artistic pattern on it. Much
more undoubtedly lies under the sand, waiting to be found.
