A 340' long former
ferry boat that used to carry 800 people and some 200 automobiles
across the Chesapeake Bay, the Princess Anne was sunk as
an artificial reef in 1993 and now rests in approximately 100' of water
off Palm Beach. The Princess Anne actually sank in a storm
at her dock in Newport, Rhode Island. She was later raised by Resolve
Marine Group by installing scores of underwater patches on her hull. Once
raised, she was cleaned and towed down the U.S. East Coast. In a joint sinking
operation Resolve Marine Group and the U.S. Navy EOD (Jacksonville, Florida)
team sank the vessel using explosives.
