A 425-foot long British tanker, the Mirlo was sunk in August of 1918 by a mine laid by U-117. Fires and numerous explosions shook the vessel as she listed to starboard and appeared to be breaking apart. The Mirlo disappeared shortly thereafter. The Mirlo has long been thought to rest at a site locally known as the "Green Buoy Wreck," however, that wreck has been determined to be the San Delfino. The Mirlo was known to have sunk in shallow water within three miles of the beach. Her remains have yet to be positively identified.
