A hopper barge, similar to that of the
Madaket.
The wreck locally known as the "Mannacamp" or "Manakept" wreck is the hopper dredge Madaket. It rests in approximately 80 feet of water north of Cape Canaveral, and hosts an abundance of marine life. The Madaket was 350 feet long, 52 feet in breadth, and had a capacity of 7,000 tons. Owned by Resolve Marine Group, she was equipped for their busy salvage operations. However, at the time of her loss she was contracted to carry sand from Ocean Cay, Bahamas to Ft. Pierce. In January 1986 she was caught in a strong winter storm and foundered after her accompanying tug lost power.
