The Ceylonite was a trawler outfitted for coastal patrol
during World War II, when she hit a mine lay by U-701 (See
Shipwrecks of North Carolina) on 15 June 1942. The wreck was
later beaten down to allow adequate clearance for marine traffic.
Today she rests in ~60' of water, heavily broken up.
