UPDATE LONG OVERDUE

It's been a while since the last update.  Over the past month I have traveled to Ireland for a RMS Lusitania expedition that resulted in a complete blowout.  In late July I joined some friends on a fantastic trip to Chuuk for a week on the 132-foot long liveaboard Odyssey.  It was definitely one of the best diving trips I have been on...

TORTUGAS DEEP WRECKS

Just got back from a great 5-day trip to dive the deep wrecks northwest of the Dry Tortugas, as well as the USS Wilkes Barre on the SPREE.  As I am in the weeds, I won't be able to do a full dive report, but articles will be appearing in upcoming issues of ADVANCED DIVER MAGAZINE and UNDERWATER JOURNAL.  In the meantime, here are a few images from the trip...

USS NARCISSUS, NOHAB ("SOUTH JACK WRECK"), AND GUNSMOKE

Sticking close to home, we ventured out to some wrecks I have been wanting to get images of for a while.  We started off early at the mouth of Tampa Bay inspecting the wreck of the Civil War tug USS Narcissus.  Even though we caught it at high tide, visibility was typically low.  However, we managed to check out the various exposed portions of this small site.  We then motored on, checking out a couple numbers, before arriving at the Nohab, locally known as the "South Jack Wreck."  For more information on this historic wreck, check out the identification notice HERE.  This is a great wreck with lots of critter action - aside from abundant snapper and Goliath grouper, we also had several spotted eagle rays cruise through the site.  We finished the day with a visit to the Gunsmoke.  The water flattened out as the day wore on, and we were back at the boat ramp at 3:00 p.m. - a pleasant change of pace!  I am already looking forward to next weekend!

LOWRANCE, RODEO 25, AND KRINGELINE

Another great weekend of diving!  We revisited the wreck of the Lowrance, where we did a nice tour of the engine room and remainder of the wreck.  The past couple of years have witnessed some changes to the wreck, with the upper decks of the midship superstructure having collapsed.  Aside from the Lowrance, we also explored the wreck of the Kringeline, as well as the Rodeo 25.

MILLER LITE AND UNION EXPRESS

Summer is almost upon us and the weather is finally improving.  Had flat calm seas and very mild current this weekend as we ventured out to the wrecks of the Miller Lite and Union Express

MORE VIDEOS!

Looking over some old video footage, I thought I would add a few more clips, including 2003 dives to the wrecks of the USS Wilkes Barre and USS Kendrick, which rest in deep water off Key West, and some wet rock video of Peacock Springs...

ENOUGH WITH THE WIND ALREADY!

Unfortunately, we haven't been able to get in the water much lately due to conflicts with weather and work.  In the interim, here is a video from a 2002 dive to the wreck of the Hydro Atlantic.  Enjoy!
